Everyone needs to indulge once in awhile and enjoy the finer (unhealthier) things in life. Instead of overdoing it with the fat free, sugar free, low carb, light options try splurging (just a little) on the good stuff. Skip the sugar free ice cream, low fat potato chips, light salad dressing and choose small, appropriate servings of the real versions. These “diet” imposters of real foods usually contain a plethora of harmful chemicals, sugar alcohols, hidden fats and plenty of extra sodium. When we eat fake foods, it makes it harder to feel satisfied which ultimately leads to overeating. Consuming less of the real thing will make you feel more satisfied, keep your cravings under control, derail binge eating sessions and will help you stay healthier overall.
